THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NATURAL AND CONVENTIONAL COSMETICS

What are conventional cosmetics anyway?

You have probably already heard of the term "conventional cosmetics", which is now appearing on the market in increasing quantities. These are usually cheaper cosmetic products based on synthetically derived ingredients. These products mostly contain ingredients of artificial origin that act on the skin only superficially and in the short term. The choice of cosmetics and reading the list of ingredients is therefore worth paying a little more attention and curiosity.

What are the differences between natural and conventional cosmetics?

As already mentioned, there are usually no natural fats present in conventional cosmetics, but if there are, their proportion is minimal. Conventional cosmetics often contain traces of petroleum products, synthesized molecules, artificial fragrances, dyes and preservatives. In the list of ingredients that you can find on the packaging under the ingredients, you can take a closer look at what is hidden in your product. Your skin will surely be grateful to you.

Natural cosmetics are those consisting mainly of natural fats, rose water, plant extracts and essential oils. They provide the skin with vitamins, essential fatty acids and antioxidants that support the skin's natural processes. They provide extensive nourishing care, protection and deep skin renewal. The fundamental difference between the two cosmetics therefore lies in their composition. In addition to precious vegetable fats, Hemptouch products are also enriched with precious rose water, vegetable extracts, essential oils and natural moisturizing components that give the skin a nourishing effect for a lasting balance.

How can I identify inappropriate products?

We need to take our time when buying skin care products. Cosmetics are similar to shopping when we check their origin, duration and ingredients. Just like food, we need to pay attention to cosmetics too, as we apply them to our largest organ: our skin. The product must therefore not contain silicones (identified by the suffix -thicone), petroleum products and artificial colors and flavors.

The inadequacy of the product can also be confirmed by a longer shelf life, as some products contain artificial preservatives that keep the cream unchanged for many years. The expiry date must be marked on the product packaging, otherwise we prefer not to opt for it.

The quality of the composition of a cosmetic product can also be recognized by its price, but this is by no means the rule. In most cases, natural products are slightly more expensive due to their unique ingredients, which are eliminated if we take into account the fact that the application of natural cosmetics is usually required in smaller quantities.

Signs of conventional cosmetics

We often pay too little attention to our choice of cosmetics so complications can quickly arise. Have you ever bought a hand cream to protect your hands from drying out and cracking, only to have it make the situation worse? How many times have you made things worse by applying lip balm? What about a scalp that turns greasy even faster after a wash? These are all signs that the cosmetic products you’re using aren’t suitable; they are usually manufactured to create an increasingly bigger need, which makes the customers use more and more of them with each application. The myth that natural cosmetics are more expensive is, therefore, just that - a myth. Why? Because natural products can be applied in smaller quantities and their effect will be far greater than the one achieved with large quantities of conventional products.

Natural cosmetics for the whole body

Another characteristic of natural cosmetics is that product batches are never exactly the same. Fluctuations and changes in nature lead to changes in the colour, smell and texture of the products too. Our customers sometimes notice a difference in consistency of a balm, a change in smell or a different shade, but all of these changes just further prove that the products are natural, and therefore reflect the fluctuations of nature.

Hemptouch has developed many different products targeting various skin problems. You can choose among a great variety of them, all united by a common thread - hemp. Depending on the purpose of the treatment, you can choose between individual products and care sets. When it comes to proper skin care, we should not overlook the scalp. Our Gentle Hydrolate Shampoo does not contain any artificial foaming agents (we can recognize them as Sodium Laureth Sulphate or SLS) and is based entirely on hemp hydrolate, hempseed oil and a combination of essential oils that promote healthy growth and shiny, strong hair. Its formula is free of artificial foaming agents that can put unnecessary stress on the scalp and hair; instead, we used natural extracts as its cleansing base, and they do their job splendidly. We also suggest using a lotion to pamper your skin after a shower or a bath.
